After the Sankranti festival in Jan 2026, the North America box office has been a weak spot for Telugu cinema. Except for one or two films like Maa Inti Bangaram, many Telugu movies that emerged as commercial hits in domestic markets failed to perform well in the US.
This has become a worrying trend for producers and overseas distributors. Considering that the North America is one of the most important overseas markets for Telugu films, and strong US collections play a key role in boosting a film’s overall worldwide box office numbers. However, in recent months, several Telugu releases have struggled to attract audiences despite enjoying success in the domestic market.
With this backdrop, all eyes are now on next big release i.e Nani’s The Paradise. The Paradise is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on September 24, while special premiere shows will be held on September 23 across North America. As of now, there are no other major films arriving on this date, hence Paradise has solo release advantage as well.
Trade circles believe if the film receives positive word of mouth from US premieres, it could enjoy a strong opening weekend and sustain its theatrical run for several weeks.
The overseas trade is eagerly waiting to see whether The Paradise can finally reverse the recent trend and bring back the massive North America box office numbers that Telugu cinema has been missing over the past few months.
