Megastar Chiranjeevi’s two upcoming films are currently in the spotlight on social media over their release dates. While Bobby’s Kaaka was scheduled for a Sankranthi release, Vishwambhara’s sudden entry for the same slot has pushed the trade into an uncertain dilemma. With both producers wanting the Sankranthi spot, the ball is in Chiranjeevi’s court. However, the producers of Kaaka went a step further and confirmed their arrival once again for Sankranthi, leaving Vishwambhara’s fate in limbo.
Not just that, the director of Vishwambhara, Vassishta also posted a cryptic tweet, indicating the confusion surrounding the film’s release. Sharing the video of Chaganti Koteswara Rao talking about Lord Siva, the Vishwambhara, Vassishta wrote a tweet on the film’s uncertain release timing. Since he has not stated anything clearly, there are rumors that the director is sharing his frustration over social media.
Vishwambhara is a long-awaited film that was supposed to release by now. Directed by Mallidi Vassishta, the film features a heavy dose of VFX, and post-production delays have slowed the team down. Last year, Chiranjeevi personally recorded a video, confirming the postponement of the film and instead announced the release of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. However, everyone thought Vishwambhara would hit the screens this summer.
In the meantime, Kaaka is getting ready at a fast pace, and to recreate the success and sentiment of Waltair Veerayya, Bobby wants it to hit the screens for Sankranthi and accordingly made a deal with one of the OTT platforms. But the producers of Vishwambhara also reportedly struck a deal with an OTT platform that is insisting on the film releasing for Sankranthi; otherwise, the deal will not be beneficial for the producers, who are already struggling with low buzz, criticism, and other issues due to the postponement.
Understanding the situation, the producers wanted Chiranjeevi to guide them and bring the crisis to a close. Yesterday, Chiranjeevi reportedly met with the producers of both films, but sources say a final decision on the release of the two films is still pending. In a surprising yet rather shocking move, the producers of Kaaka released a picture of Chiranjeevi interacting with the producers of both Kaaka and Vishwambhara to confirm Kaaka’s arrival on January 13th.
Now, the trade and fans are left confused. While some say no conclusion was reached in yesterday’s meeting, it was not right for the producers of Kaaka to announce the release date while also carrying the picture of the producer of Vishwambhara. Meanwhile, team Vishwambhara is silent, as usual, on these developments.
At the moment, there are speculations that both Chiranjeevi films will arrive in theatres with a one-day gap for Sankranthi. But there will be many issues, including theatre allotment, distribution, trade deals, and competition. Practically, it is not a viable option, especially right now.
For now, the fans are still hoping that Chiranjeevi will intervene and suggest a decision that benefits both the teams.
