₹50 Crore Cheque Fraud: Actress Radha Accuses Sister, Brother

Family disputes are growing of late. Especially with financial disputes coming to the centrestage, several big families are going through sibling rivalry and family feuds.

In a similar case, veteran actress Radha has filed a complaint with the Tamil Nadu police against her sister and actress Ambika and their brother, alleging that her signed blank cheques were misused in an attempt to encash around ₹50 crore.

According to Radha’s complaint, she had kept some signed blank cheques at her Chennai residence for business-related expenses, including salaries, taxes, utility bills and other payments. She reportedly said that these cheques belonged to an old cheque book linked to her business.

Radha allegedly received an alert from her bank informing her that five old cheques had been presented in Ambika’s name. The amounts mentioned in reports include ₹11 lakh, ₹13.17 crore, ₹27.73 crore, ₹7 crore and ₹1.79 crore, with the total amount reportedly running to around ₹50 crore.

Radha has alleged that she did not issue these cheques to Ambika and that there was no financial transaction or legally enforceable debt between them that would justify such payments.

Radha has also alleged that her brother filled in the cheques and that they were taken from her room without her knowledge. After receiving the bank alert, Radha reportedly contacted the bank and requested that the transactions be stopped.

The complaint also mentions a dispute over access to her residence and belongings. Radha has sought a police investigation into the matter and action based on the findings.

Ambika and her brother have been named in the complaint, but the allegations are yet to be established. Ambika has reportedly denied the allegations and claimed that the cheque was connected to a property dispute.

The Chennai police are looking into Radha’s allegations, examining the financial transactions and expected to gather other relevant evidence as part of the investigation.

This family dispute has brought a financial matter involving two well-known sisters of South Indian cinema into the public spotlight.
