Medium-Range Heroines Defend South, But Stars Don’t Bother?

The Telugu film industry is facing a hot discussion on social media. For a few days, some Bollywood actresses like Janhvi Kapoor and Radhika Apte have made negative comments about South Indian cinema mainly on Tollywood. However many Telugu star heroines have not responded to these remarks. Meanwhile, medium range actresses like Payal Rajput and Regina Cassandra have come forward to support Tollywood.

It is interesting to see that the actresses who gained huge fame through Telugu cinema are not speaking up while medium range heroines are taking the lead in defending the industry.

Actress Payal Rajput recently shared a strong message in support of the Telugu film industry. “Tollywood made me who I am today. I will always stand by the industry that stood by me,” Payal wrote. She also said that speaking badly about the industry that gave someone name and fame is not bravery.

After Payal Rajput, Regina Cassandra has also spoken about the issue. She expressed her concern over comments that could create differences between North and South Indian cinema. Regina questioned why some actors speak about South Indian cinema in a way that creates a divide.

She also shared her experience with a Dharma Productions film. Regina said that she played an important role but was not included in the film’s promotions. She also mentioned that a song featuring her was released without tagging her. Regina questioned whether she was treated differently because she was a South Indian actress.

So both the actresses showed their support in South Cinema in a way they can do. Whereas Telugu star heroines are staying silent. Several leading actresses have gained fame and career opportunities through Tollywood. But no star actresses have responded yet to this issue.

Some star heroines may be staying silent because they fear losing Bollywood opportunities or North Indian film offers. But that should not be the main concern when the industry that gave them name, fame and recognition is facing criticism. So fans feel that actresses who received so much support from Telugu cinema should also speak when the industry faces criticism

Whatever the reason may be , while star heroines appear unbothered by the controversy, medium range actresses are openly defending Tollywood which is a great thing.
