Ramayana is one of the recent releases at the Indian box office. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, the film is running successfully in theatres. Bankrolled by Namit Malhotra and Yash, the film also features Yash as Ravana.
One of the film’s most praised sequences is Ravana’s fight with Jatayu. Nitesh worked for close to six months on the sequence to get the VFX right and make it look as close to reality as possible.
The biggest challenge with period films, especially mythology dramas, is convincing audiences with the graphics and VFX work. Many times, we’ve seen several films fail in this regard. For instance, Adipurush, one version of the Ramayana, also failed miserably in that regard. But Nitesh got it right with Ramayana, and his hard work has paid off today.
Before the release, Nitesh said he worked on that particular sequence for 6 years and put in a lot of effort to get it right. However, there were mixed reactions back then. But today, the sequence remains one of the most brilliant on-screen sequences in the film. The hard work is clearly evident on the screen. Not only that, the film looks technically sound in every aspect. Everything has been properly taken care of.
The takeaway from this is that if ample time is given for pre-production, planning and execution, the output will always look extraordinary. It is one of the reasons why audiences are showing a big interest in catching up with the film.
