Comedian Potti Veeraiah No More

Well known comedian Potti Veeraiah is no more. Veeraiah suffered heart-attack today and breathed his last. Family members had rushed him to hospital after complaining chest pain, but he succumbed to cardiac arrest.

Veeraiah was 74-year-old. His height was 2 feet. He was a dwarf by birth. Started his career in 1969 with Sr NTR’s Aggi Veerudu, Veeraiah had acted in more than 400 films. In a career spanning five decades, Veeraiah acted in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies. He had also acted in Oriya and Hindi movies. He acted under direction of popular directors Vittalacharya and Dasari Narayana Rao.

Veeraih’s wife Mallika had died in 2008. Theirs was love marriage. Veeriah is survived by three daughters. His daughter Vijaya is also an actress. Veeraiah hailed from Telangana. He was born in Nalgonda’s Suryapeta. Right from childhood, he was keen in acting and participated in several plays. He had moved to Chennai where he got into acting in films. His last film was released in 2014.
