Director Shankar Shanmugam’s mother S Muthulakshmi passed away today. She was 88 years old and she reportedly passed away in Chennai due to age-related issues.
The last rites will be held on Wednesday. Shankar has said in many of his interviews about how close he is to his mother. Shankar’s mother was very proud of Shankar’s accomplishments and his style of filmmaking.
Many celebrities and fans have been sending condolences.
On the work front, Shankar is gearing for his next with Ram Charan and the one followed by a movie with Ranveer Singh, which is rumored to be Aparichithudu-remake. Ascar Ravichandran filed a petition against Shankar to refrain him from using the rights of Anniyan.
Already, the director is stuck in the legal tangle for his unfinished Indian 2 movie, where Lyca productions alleged Shankar’s filmmaking and delays costing them huge.
