Takkar Movie Review

Actor Siddharth has been picky in his second innings and is coming up with a film every one-two years. In the pursuit of scoring a big hit, he has now come up with his new film Takkar. This Karthik G Krish’s directorial features Divyansha Kaushik as the female lead. Here is the review of the film.

Gunasekhar (Siddharth) hails from a poor financial background and aims to become super rich. In pursuit of his desire, he lands in Vizag. He starts doing small jobs but gets humiliated most of the time. Finally, he takes up the position of a cab driver. Conversely, Gunasekhar falls for Lucky (Divyansha), a spoiled rich girl. In a turn of events, Gunasekhar and Lucky get into trouble due to a mafia gang. How they get out it forms the major crux of the film.

Though Siddharth tries his best to come out of his lover-boy image, his antics and looks still make him feel like the sweet guy from Bommarillu and Nuvvostanane Nenoddantana. He is aiming to become a mass hero with films like Maha Samudram and Takkar but the poor character writing is doing the damage. Divyasha Kaushik looks gorgeous on screen but her role has nothing significant to offer. Yogi Babu’s comedy is yawn-inducing and Abhimanyu Singh is typical as an antagonist.

Director Karthik G Krish tries to incorporate too many genres into his story. Thus, we can’t fit Takkar into a specific category. There is romance, suspense and action but nothing is praiseworthy. Eventually, everything in the movie makes us bored right from the beginning to the end. No character has a purpose in the film, leading things to become messy. Takkar starts off on an interesting note. Multiple characters are introduced with specific motives. But good things end after that. How those motives are fulfilled was not showcased well. Though the first half is at least passable, the second half is a complete disappointment.

Takkar doesn’t offer anything significant on the technical front as well. Music director Nivas K Prasanna’s songs and background score are forgettable. Murugesan does a decent job on the camera front. The VFX works is sub-standard. The editing is patchy and the writing is sloppy.

Over, Takkar is a half-baked attempt which fails to gain momentum at any point of time. A disappointing outing from Siddharth.
