AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is ready to press the button once again—this time to release ₹620 crore for students under the fee reimbursement scheme. This new amount comes after the state already released ₹788 crore for the 2024–25 academic year.
The Education Department has said that this money will be sent either to the colleges or to the students’ mothers’ bank accounts, depending on what the families prefer. The government also warned colleges not to trouble students to pay fees before reimbursement is done.
This step is especially important because the previous YSRCP government, under Jagan Mohan Reddy, did not release two quarters of fee reimbursement. That delay left a ₹2,000 crore backlog, which the current TDP+ government is now clearing step-by-step. Education Minister Nara Lokesh said that even though the financial burden is high, the government is determined to fulfill its promises to students.
This also brings back memories of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s old style—pressing a ceremonial button during public events to release welfare funds and gain attention. The difference now is that Naidu is pressing many buttons quietly, without any events or publicity.
With ₹620 crore now approved and another ₹400 crore expected soon, the Finance Department has started the release process. Students will soon receive the funds in their accounts, helping reduce the pressure of paying college fees.
This move is not just about money—it’s about rebuilding trust. The TDP+ government wants to show that it keeps its promises and puts students first.
