The perseverance of Indian origin individuals in American politics is increasing by the day as we are seeing more and more public representatives from the Indian community even in local administration in the USA.

In this context, something rather interesting has happened with regard to the upcoming New York, Mayor elections as Indian origin Zohran Mamdani has progressed ahead.

Incidentally, Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo conceded New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary election to rival Zohran Mamdani, who has reportedly won 43 per cent of the vote with 90 per cent of ballots counted.

Cuomo announced on Tuesday night that he is conceding to Mamdani who is marginally ahead in the ballot race.

Zohran Mamdani is a fast growing political figure in U.S. politics. His father is Mahmood Mamdani, an Indian-Ugandan and postcolonial studies professor at Columbia University of Gujarati Shia Muslim descent, and his mother is Mira Nair, an Indian-American filmmaker of Punjabi descent.
