Trump To Cancel Indian Origin Mayor’s Citizenship?

It looks nearly certain that Indian origin politician Zohran Mamdani is going to become the new mayor of New York City. However, president, Donald Trump is vehemently against this proposition as he labels Mamdani as a “reckless communist” who doesn’t deserve this position.

In this context, the latest developments are suggesting that Donald Trump is even contemplating the idea of deporting Trump if he doesn’t comply with the Immigration Reforms of the Trump administration.

Mamdani, 33, was born in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, to ethnically Indian parents. He moved to New York at the age of seven and became a naturalised US citizen in 2018.

Trump has hinted that Mamdani could get arrested and his citizenship which was granted in 2018 could be revoked if he crossed the line.

“As President of the United States, I’m not going to let this Communist Lunatic destroy New York. Rest assured, I hold all the levers, and have all the cards. ‘ll save New York City, and make it “Hot” and “Great” again, just like I did with the Good Ol’ USA!” Trump posted.

But the real question here is whether Trump actually has the authority and leeway to deport Mamdani which is going to be a strenuous process considering the latter is on course to assume NYC Mayor position.
