US President Donald Trump has hit out at his former ally Elon Musk over the launch of a new political party by him. Speaking to reporters, he said: “I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party. It’s always been a two-party system and I think starting a third party just adds to the confusion.”
“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely “off the rails,” essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” Trump wrote on social media on July 6. Through this post, Trump took aim at Musk’s push for an “Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate”, saying it would have “forced everyone to buy an electric car in a short period of time.” He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States, Trump pointed out.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk floated the new political outfit after contemplating about it for weeks. Musk announced the formation of the America Party on July 5, a day after Trump signed his mega-bill. Musk is against Trump’s signature legislation ‘big, beautiful Bill Act’ as the Congressional Budget Office projects the legislation will increase the national debt by $3-4 trillion.
In his July 6 post, Trump criticized third parties. The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, the US President wrote. Identified to be the world’s richest person with a worth of $405 billion, Musk spent nearly $290 million to help Trump and his team, i.e., other Republicans get elected. Musk Even headed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to slash federal agencies spending.
However, the duo differed after a few weeks and Musk slammed Trump’s Beautiful Bill, that included increased spending on immigration enforcement and the military and reduced expenditure on Medicaid. The bill also cuts spending on food-support programmes. Trump’s Bill also ended tax breaks for electric vehicles, which would have impact on EV-manufacturing company Tesla, owned by Musk.
