Tensions are rising in Telangana politics as the BJP has strongly warned the BRS party for targeting media houses. The issue started when BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar called Andhra Jyothi an “Andhra media” and asked it to rename itself “Telangana Jyothi” if it truly supports Telangana. His comments received heavy backlash online.
Critics say BRS is still using Telangana-Andhra issues for political mileage, even though it’s been over 10 years since the state’s formation. They also pointed out that BRS itself had earlier tried to expand into Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Reacting to the situation, BJP leaders N. Ramachandra Rao and Bandi Sanjay Kumar warned BRS not to mess with media freedom. Bandi Sanjay said if BRS workers attack ABN’s office, BJP would retaliate by attacking BRS headquarters within two hours. He challenged BRS openly and said the BJP is ready to face them.
Many political analysts feel people are no longer interested in old Telangana-Andhra disputes. They believe such actions by BRS may backfire, especially after their poor performance in the 2023 elections. This warning from BJP came shortly after few days of BRS workers were accused of damaging the Maha TV office, adding more heat to the ongoing political drama.
