Twentyone-year-old Ritick Gupta, a student from India at the California State University, died after being hit by a light rail train while he was riding an electric scooter in Midtown Sacramento on Monday. His friends said that the accident occurred while Gupta has just finished his shift at the Mountain Mike’s Pizza.
Now, his friends are raising money to shift his remains to India. The Pizza kiosk head NJ Mann donated a percentage of sales from Mountain Mike’s Pizza to Gupta’s family. An all-day fundraiser is expected on July 27 at their kiosk’s 1900 S. Street location. He used to work at the Pizza shop part-time to earn some bucks.
Mann said that Gupta was more than just an employee. All the employees are like family members and Gupta used to come here and talk to me about his personal life. He used to support his family in India and think less about himself, he said.
“We don’t want his family to think that their son’s life was just gone and it was for nothing. We want them to feel like there are people out there going to help them.”
His friends said that he was a vibrant and hardworking guy. He was very kind and a lovable person, said one of his friends, Vaibhav.
