US President Donald Trump said that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been captured and flown from the country. On Saturday, Trump confirmed that the US forces conducted ‘a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader.’
Taking to Truth Social, Trump said Maduro’s wife was also seized in the operation conducted along with US law enforcement. The operation was carried out in the night time.
There were multiple explosions that bombarded the Caracas, the capital. Maduro’s government accused the US of attacking civilian and military installations. The Venezuela government called it an “imperialist attack” and urged citizens to take to the streets.
There is no information about who is running the country now and Maduro’s whereabouts were not immediately known. Trump said, “Maduro has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow.”
There were seven blasts sending the people into the streets, while a few others took to report hearing and seeing the explosions. It was not immediately clear if there were casualties.
