Newlywed Tragedy: Indian Truck Driver Arrested by ICE

The US Federal Immigration officers operating under ICE ( Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency) are not sparing any individual who gained illegal access into the country. They are tracking down such immigrants and deporting them after completing all formalities.

In another such incident, an Indian origin truck driver Rajinder Kumar, who is accused of killing a newly married couple in November last year, has been taken into the custody by ICE agents after he was released from jail for the grave offence.

The 32-year-old jackknifed his semi-truck and collided with a vehicle in Bend on November 24, killing William Carter and his wife, Jennifer Lower, who had been married two weeks ago at that time. He was immediately arrested and produced in the Court. It was later found that he entered USA illegally without a valid license. He was later lodged in a county jail.

When the incident came to light, Trump’s administration criticised the previous Biden’s government for allowing such individuals into the country and providing a safe haven by providing employment. Later, ICE placed an immigration detainer on Kumar, seeking to take him into federal custody if he is released by the county.

Despite local criminal charges and the ICE detainer, Kumar was recently released from the local jail. So, the federal officers acted swiftly and arrested him again. Reports said Kumar may have been released after posting $25,000, part of a $250,000 bond. He is being held at the Northwest ICE Processing Centre in Tacoma, Washington and might face deportation proceedings before an immigration judge.
