Indian student stabbed to death in Canada

Indian students and working professionals have been repeatedly falling prey to random shooting incidents and brutal assaults in foreign countries like USA and Canada.

In another heart-wrenching incident, a 22 year old Indian student has been hacked to death by an unidentified suspect two weeks ago in Canada. The deceased victim has later been identified as Vidhi Kalpeshbhai Meghani, a resident of Borsad in the Anand district of Gujarat.

Vidhi had been living in Canada for four years and was pursuing her higher studies besides working on a part time job to meet her ends. She was allegedly stabbed with a knife in a robbery attempt by the accused who fled the scene of offence. The unfortunate incident took place on May 15 in the city of St. Catherines of Niagara state. A murder case has been registered and further investigation is currently on.

The incident came to light only after her parents could not contact her for several days since her last phone call on May 14. According to her family, Vidhi was pursuing business management in Hamilton, a port city in Canada’s Ontario province. She moved to the new place only in the first week of May.

The family has appealed to the Indian government to help bring Vidhi’s mortal remains back to India at the earliest for the final rites.
