YSRCP is facing increasing pressure as the political attacks from TDP are becoming stronger day by day. Senior leaders in the party are said to be unhappy that the leadership is failing to give strong counters to the narratives being created by opponents.
Earlier, TDP leaders repeatedly used the word “psycho” against YS Jagan. Even then, some leaders within YSRCP reportedly suggested that the campaign should be countered aggressively. But the party leadership stayed silent, and many now feel that it damaged the party’s image during the elections.
Now, TDP has started branding YSRCP as the “Goddali Party”. Political observers say such attacks are common in politics, but the real issue is whether a party can effectively respond to them. According to several senior YSRCP leaders, the party is struggling badly in that area.
A former MLA from the combined Anantapur district reportedly commented that the “Goddali” image is becoming difficult to handle at the public level. He reportedly expressed disappointment that the leadership is not taking the issue seriously enough.
Not just him, even a former minister from Srikakulam district is said to have made similar comments internally. Leaders feel Jagan is falling behind in politically countering TDP’s aggressive narrative.
Some leaders are also reportedly unhappy that they are not being given enough freedom to strongly attack the ruling party in return. Because of this, there is growing concern inside YSRCP that the “Goddali Party” branding could slowly settle among the public.
A few days ago, Jagan himself tried to counter the “Goddali” attack by referring to the deaths in his family during Chandrababu Naidu’s earlier regime. However, that press meet reportedly did not connect strongly with the public. Apart from Jagan, most other YSRCP leaders have remained silent on the issue.
Recently, during TDP’s Mahanadu event too, Chandrababu openly referred to YSRCP as the “Goddali Party”, and the remark reportedly received huge applause from party cadre and supporters.
All these developments are now leading to serious discussions and frustration within YSRCP. Senior leaders are said to be deeply hurt and worried about the long term political impact if the situation continues like this.
