The Gazette notification released amidst the water dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has invited mixed reactions. Andhra and Telangana BJP have welcomed this notification and added that the Modi led BJP government in New Delhi is committed to resolve the water disputes between the Telugu states.
Advisor to AP government, Sajjala reacted to the Gazette notification and he said this is the first step. “We should see this in positive perspective yet we have our objections over it. We would want to raise our concerns stated in the Gazette and we are working accordingly,” said Sajjala.
Further Sajjala clarified that the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project will not do any injustice to any region of the Telugu states. Blaming TDP chief, Sajjal said during Chandrababu’s tenure, Telangana government constructed Palamuru-Rangareddy project and when Krishna water is being used, he neither questioned nor stopped.
On the other hand, Telangana CM KCR held a review on the Gazette notification. KCR called legal advisors, irrigation officials and others to take their opinion and how the notification would impact the Telangana’s water share.
Overall, the ‘Gazette’ move by government of India is probably heading towards consensus which is a good sign.
