Lockdown Reports : Panic Buying Begins!

Ever since the reports of lockdown broke out yesterday evening, there has been a mad rush at several grocery stores and marts in Hyderabad. As none other than Telangana CM KCR announced that the government has been getting several requests to impose lockdown and the government would take appropriate decision in three to four days. He indicated that there could be a lockdown in the GHMC region where the community spread of Corona Virus is suspected.

Since Sunday evening, long queues outside all the popular grocery stores are observed. DMart, Reliance Fresh, Ratnadeep, Heritage Fresh and other local marts witnessed a huge spike in the business. The panic buying is back as people bought larger quantities of groceries than the usual.

On Monday morning, the queues increased. While Telangana is likely to take a decision on lockdown 6 in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, people thronged to grocery and vegetable stores. Karnataka state has announced strict lockdown on Sundays from July 5th. Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa announced that the lockdown would be limited only for Sundays. He said the state government is also going to impose a strict curfew in the nights. Tamil Nadu is also likely to impose a lockdown.

According to reports, the lockdown could be limited to either five districts of the state where there is a surge in the number of Covid cases or the state could implement a complete lockdown. CM Palaniswami will be holding talks with the Experts Committee today before taking the decision.
