Narsapuram Curse: Will Jagan Break the Record?

Be it in the cinema industry or politics, actors and leaders believe a lot of superstitions and beliefs. On many occasions, several of them turn out to be true may be due to sheer coincidence or accidentally. Now, the latest talk that is strongly going on in AP’s political circles is that CM Jagan may lose 2024 polls. The superstitious belief that is in circulation is that whichever Chief Minister laid foundations for the development works in Narsapuram constituency in West Godavari have lost the immediate elections in the state. The history does support this belief. Will Jagan breaks the Jinx and win back in 2024 elections?

NTR had conducted Bhumi pooja for Vasita – Godavari bridge ‘Vasista Varadhi’ in 1985. After this, NTR had lost the polls in the 1989 elections. Later, YS Rajasekhar Reddy had laid the foundation for the same ‘Vasista Varadhi’ in 2004, but he had lost his life in September 2009 soon after coming to power for a second term. Kiran Kumar Reddy in 2013 pursued this Vasista Varadhi and he had to resign to his CM post after the state bifurcation. Thus, three Chief Ministers tried to initiate this bridge but lost the power.

In 2019. Chandrababu Naidu had laid the foundation for harbour in Narsapuram. In the same year, Naidu’s party lost very badly. Out of 175 MLA seats, TDP won in a meager 23 seats whereas YSRCP won in 151 Assembly seats.

The other day, YS Jagan is toured in Narsapuram and did a slew of foundations, his own party MP and arch rival Raghurama Krishnam Raju is reiterating this belief and widely popularising this. Recalling this popular jinx in Rachabanda, Raghurama Raju said, “Whoever do Sankusthapanas in Narsapur will lose the immediate Assembly elections in the state.” These comments were made at the time when CM Jagan visited Narsapur and laid foundations for a slew of programs in the jinxed constituency.
