‘Building new structures or farmhouses is not development’

Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao have not been on amicable terms for the last few months. Unable to fume at him in the open, Soundararajan is maintaining silence.

However, she keeps telling about her decent behavior at various press meets but holds back some crucial files when they come for clearance. About 7-8 files are pending at the Governor’s office.

Republic Day has given her an opportunity to showcase her supremacy over the CM and the High Court orders to organise the R-Day celebrations in a grand manner had been a shot in the arm. She castigated the KCR government in the presence of the DGP and Chief Secretary. “A few people might not like me but I am committed to work for the welfare of the Telangana people,” she said.

“Building new structures or farmhouses is not development. Our children going abroad for higher studies is also not development. Providing international facilities in our state schools is development.Let us protect the respect of Telangana and also the Constitution. My bonding with Telangana is not just for three years. It has been since my birth. I will definitely play a key role in the welfare of the Telangana people. My biggest assets are hard work, honesty and love. A few people might not like me but I like Telangana people and would stretch myself to any extent for their happiness,” she said in an attacking mood.

She said that her office had taken up several developmental works in tribal areas and in the Raj Bhavan too.
During her speech, she said that Hyderabad has earned reputation as IT destination. She also made a mention of the Vande Bharat express introduced in the city by the Centre.

It is more than three years since Dr Soundararajan had assumed office in Telangana. In the first year, she had no problem with KCR’s government. After some time, she began holding back the files citing some or the other reason.
