Don’t Pressurise Courts: Chief Justice To Avinash’s Lawyers

The Chief Justice of Telangana High Court expressed disappointment on the advocates of Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy. In the CBI probe of YS Vivekananda Reddy’s case, Avinash has applied for anticipatory bail. This petition was supposed to come for hearing on Friday. But being the last day before the summer vacations, the court was busy with multiple cases.

With very limited time in hands, the Chief Justice postponed the case to June 5th. Before this, advocates of Avinash Reddy and CBI have asked the Chief Justice to listen to their arguments. Both the sides cited urgency and asked to deliver a verdict on this case.

The Chief Justice was unimpressed with the arguments of advocates of Avinash Reddy and CBI. “Don’t pressure the courts for your convenience,” said the Chief Justice and refused to hear the arguments. The Chief Justice recalled the comments of the Supreme Court in connection with the same case.

However, Avinash Reddy lawyers added that the court should consider the seriousness of this case. “The CBI is very aggressive against our client (Avinash Reddy) and so the court should allot time today, tomorrow and Sunday,” said the lawyers.

Finding fault, the Chief Justice replied that such arguments are uncalled for and questioned whether the advocates want the case to be transferred to vacation bench. The advocates of Avinash Reddy could not decide upon and so the case has been postponed to June 5th.

From May 1st, the High Court will observe summer vacation and will resume hearings from June 2nd. So a month gap and CBI has ample time to interrogate Avinash Reddy and might arrest him, if it wants to extract more information from the Kadapa MP.
