Telangana Home minister Mahmood Ali raked up a controversy by commenting on the outfit that women should prefer in public atmosphere. Minister Ali commented while responding to the reports of Muslim students in Hijab denied entry to write exams at KV Ranga Reddy college.
“If women wear short dresses, it would invite unwanted troubles and it would be better if they cover themselves fully,” said the BRS minister. The minister further added that every individual is free enough to wear what they like nevertheless it would be wise if short outfits are avoided.
Minister Ali went on to say that BRS government is a secular sarkar and the state government did not impose any restrictions on wearing burqa (Hijab) and on the latest incidents, he would ask the officials to give a detailed explanation and also from the college management where the incident was reported.
Yet minister Mahmood Ali’s comments have stormed the media circles and he was criticized for low standard remarks on the outfit of women.
Guess the discussion on women’s choice of outfit will continue for decades even though we pretend to be a progressive society.
