‘Timely Help For Vizag Harbor Fire Victims’

In response to the recent fire at the Visakhapatnam fishing harbor, Fisheries Minister Seedari Appala Raju swiftly distributed Rs. 7.11 crore to boat owners who suffered losses. Accompanied by key YSRC officials, including Y.V. Subba Reddy and Visakhapatnam MP M.V.V. Satyanarayana, the minister disbursed the compensation through bank cheques. The funds, tailored to boat size and damage intensity, aimed to alleviate the immediate financial strain on the affected fishing community.

The relief effort included Rs. 66.96 lakh for owners of 18 damaged boats, distributed based on the severity of damage. Additionally, 384 workers associated with the affected boats received Rs. 10,000 each. Minister Raju emphasized the YSRC government’s consistent support for fishermen, citing Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s prompt announcement of compensation and ongoing measures such as diesel subsidies and holiday compensation.

Looking ahead, Minister Raju outlined the government’s commitment to the modernization of the fishing harbor, with a sanctioned budget of Rs. 150 crore. Plans include infrastructure upgrades and incentives for environmentally friendly practices, such as biodegradable boats. The minister’s decisive actions and future-focused plans underscore the YSRC government’s dedication to the welfare and sustainable development of the fishing industry in Visakhapatnam.

Even Pawan Kalyan took a proactive stance in response to the recent devastating fire at the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour. Distributing cheques of ₹50,000 each to 49 fishermen who lost their livelihood, While acknowledging that ₹50,000 falls short of covering the losses incurred, Kalyan emphasized that he wanted to bring attention to the fishermen’s plight.
