The AP CID took an unexpected step a couple of days ago as the authorities arrested an NRI named Yashasvi for allegedly sharing social media posts against Jagan Mohan Reddy. The CID took hold of his passport in the course of the investigation.
Keeping ahold of an NRI’s passport while he is in India puts his career in jeopardy. Worried about this, Yashasvi filed a petition at the Andhra Pradesh High Court, requesting to order the CID to release his passport.
The High Court took up the case and started investigating the matter. Upon the investigation, the court ordered the CID to release the passport and hand it over to Yashasvi immediately. The CID is likely to hand over the passport to the individual soon.
