Incessant rains in Hyderabad resulted in severe waterlogging in all parts of the city. Several low-lying areas were inundated due to the unprecedented rainfall. With the lifting of the floodgates, the normal life of the city’s denizens are thrown into jeopardy. At least 32 people were killed in Telangana due to the havoc besides loss to private property. Several angry residents are fuming over the insufficient measures. While the GHMC officials have initiated the relief measures, the government is yet to reach out to several areas.
In this backdrop, CM KCR has called for an emergency high-level meeting with the senior officials at Pragati Bhavan at 3 pm. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KTR, Roads & Buildings minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao and ministers in GHMC region Mahmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, chief secretary Somesh Kumar, Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao, SPDCL CMD Raghuma Reddy, principal secretaries of municipal, agriculture and Road and buildings departments, GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar and Hyderabad district collector Sweta Mohanty are going to attend this high-level emergency meeting.
CM KCR is going to review the situation and the relief measures of the GHMC. As per reports, CM KCR would be assessing the overall loss and it will be later submitted to the centre. All eyes are now on what would be CM KCR’s comments on the issue.
