‘Gaddar Ku Padma Award Iyyam… baraabar Iyyam’

The Telangana government has been particularly proactive when it comes to recognising and celebrating late revolutionary singer, Gaddar. In accordance, there has been a growing narrative to accord the prestigious Padma Award to Gaddar for his contributions towards the Telangana separatist movement.

However, when this topic was brought up in front of BJP, Telangana firebrand Bandi Sanjay today, he had a very strong set of words in response.

“Gaddar ki Padma award iyyam… baraabar iyyam” Bandi said in front of the media today. He looked visibly agitated when a media person asked him if there is a possibility that the government of India would consider the idea of according the Padma award to Gaddar.

“Gaddar is far left sympathiser and he was a part of the naxalism movement. He is directly involved in the mass murder of several BJP leaders, and even Telangana policemen. He sang songs and celebrated the lives of people who killed hundreds of BJP workers. If so, how can you expect us to grant him the Padma award? We don’t want to signify a man who killed several BJP leaders and conspired the killing of police officers.” Bandi said today.

The fact that Bandi, despite being a union minister had such strong opinions about Gaddar pretty much confirmed that the government of India has no consideration of granting the award to the late singer.

On the flipside, this statement from Bandi triggered a serious reaction from Congress leaders as they started to burn Bandi’s face posters in front of the BJP office in Telangana. This has pretty much led to a tense situation.
