After much contemplation and reluctance, YS Jagan finally attended the Andhra Pradesh Assembly session today. However, it turned out to be a very casual visit, as Jagan stayed in the Assembly house for no more than 10 minutes.
This led to comments that Jagan came to the Assembly only to file his attendance and ensure that his signature was in the official records so that he does not face the threat of disqualification for not attending 60 consecutive sessions.
Incidentally, this point was raised in front of Roja today, and she had a very strong response. When she was asked if Jagan was scared of disqualification and if that was the only reason he came to the house, here’s what Roja replied:
“Jagan is not a man who will get scared of anything. He does not fear anyone or anything. If you think he came to the Assembly out of fear, then you can ask Sonia Gandhi if Jagan is someone who’d get scared” (hinting at Jagan’s exit from Congress by opposing Sonia).
Again, rather than sticking to the point about the intention behind Jagan’s questionable 10-minute stay in the Assembly, Roja diverted the discussion with an incoherent implication to skip the main question. TDP supporters are questioning what the connection is between Jagan coming to the Assembly for 10 minutes and asking Sonia Gandhi about his courage.
At the end of the day, Jagan has somehow managed to create a lot of political discourse from just a 10-minute presence in the Assembly.
