Back when YS Jagan was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, he had this fascination with having his imagery and particular colours on virtually everything. Shockingly, this reflected even on government issued identity documents, including PDS rice cards.
Back when Jagan was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, this rice card that was issued as an ID proof for common folk to get ration supplies had YCP color scheme and had images of YSR and Jagan Mohan Reddy. This was criticized by many people back in the day as they felt Jagan implied as if he’s giving rice supplies in his own capacity rather than on behalf if AP government.
Cut to now, under the NDA government, things have started to change rather quickly.
Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar presented the new card in front of the media yesterday and it’s completely free from any kind of political imagery.
The new rice card comes with the standard letterhead of the government of Andhra Pradesh and there is no imagery of chief minster Chandrababu or deputy CM Pawan Kalyan on the same.
It is evident that the new design is already free from the political colours of the previous YCP government and it has a pretty generic vibe which must have been the case always.
