One of the biggest financial and consumer produce scams alleged against the previous YCP government is the infamous AP liquor scam. There are several allegations about the nature of the cash-only transactions and liquor brand irregularities that were committed by the main members of the previous government.
In this connection, one of the major players in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam, Raj Kasireddy has been arrested by the AP SIT at the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad today.
Raj arrived from at the Shamshabad airport from Goa earlier today, and he was immediately taken into custody by the SIT officials who were waiting outside the airport. Reportedly, he tried to convince them that he would appear for investigation tomorrow, but the officials suspect foul play and immediately took him into custody.
Earlier, Raj Kasireddy has approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking an interim bail. But the court rejected the advancement and scheduled the next hearing to next week. Prior to that, this prime suspect in the liquor scam case has been taken into custody.
It can be noted that Vijaya Sai Reddy had earlier partaken in the investigation at the AP CID Office and affirmatively said Raj Kasireddy is the main man in this liquor operation. This could play a substantial role in the course of the investigation now that the prime suspect himself has been arrested.
It can be noted that he is also a very close associate of Jagan and was right beside the YCP even during the 2019 election result, announcement. So him getting arrested in this liquor case now could spell bad news to the top leadership of YCP.
