YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting at his Tadepalli residence with the party’s youth wing leaders and workers from across the state. It was a rare interaction—his first with the youth wing in the last seven years. During the meeting, Jagan opened up about the party’s journey from its formation to the 2024 elections, sharing key moments and milestones with the attendees.
While addressing the gathering, Jagan said he left the Congress because of the injustice done to the YSR family. He recalled, “My mother and I started this party together, faced many challenges, and took it to the people. Some supported us, others voluntarily joined, and together we strengthened the party.”
He spoke about narrowly missing power in 2014 and achieving victory in 2019. Jagan urged the youth to be more active on social media and stressed their role in the upcoming elections. He assured them that those who work hard now would be recognized once the party returns to power.
However, his remarks triggered mixed reactions. Many in the party noticed that while he credited his mother Vijayamma, he made no mention of his sister Y.S. Sharmila. This surprised several youth leaders, considering Sharmila had once walked over 3,000 kilometers during the early days of the party to drum up public support. Despite current political and property disputes between the siblings, some felt it was unfair of Jagan to completely overlook her contributions.
Several in the party felt that just a single line like, “My mother, Sharmila, and I worked hard to build this party” would have acknowledged the sacrifices she made. Instead, his silence on her role left many disappointed.
