NDA Govt For Fishermen: Big Steps, Big Promise!

The NDA government is perfectly balancing the investments prospect and welfare programs. Along with the DBT programmes that are directly benefiting the largest section of the population, the government is also looking to enhance the skillset of workers in different sectors.

Now deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan has communicated big news to the fisherman community in the coastal regions of Andhra, primarily the Uppada region.

As promised earlier, Pawan Kalyan has announced a brief layout of his 100-day program which is expected to change the lives of the fishing community.

Along with measures to enhance the depleting fish wealth in the coastal areas, the government has also focused on creating alternative income sources. They are making arrangements to implement special plans formulated based on suggestions from Visakhapatnam Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute and the Fisheries Department.

Through the Central Government’s Coastal Resilience Scheme, the AP government is set to undertake special measures worth Rs. 2 crores for the protection of the Uppada coastal area.

As part of the 100-day plan implementation, the plan is to create awareness among fishermen on enhancing fish wealth, improving fishing skills, setting up special reefs, creating alternative income resources, and related matters.

By providing training to fishermen youth in water sports like speed boating, scuba diving, and others, the government aims to develop state’s coastal areas as tourism hotspots. For this, fishermen will be taken from the Kakinada coastal area to Kerala to provide training at eco-tourism spots run by fishermen there. This will enhance their employment prospects further.

This would not just enhance the skillset of the fisherman community, but also provide them with better employment opportunities in the future. This is a perfect demonstration of the fact that a government must empower the citizens, but not make them lazy by feeding money. This proactive measured by the government is being welcomed by the fishing industry and rightly so as well.
