Pollution Out Of Control: Govt Bans Hotel Tandoor

It is already known that the air-quality index of Delhi has been reaching alarming levels. The city has been witnessing extreme air pollution which has reached a hazardous point and public safety is in question. The current reading of the AQI in Delhi is 413 which is a hazardous number by all means.

The government and the pollution control department have collectively decided that certain measures are to be taken to bring the air quality problem under control.

In this context, the pollution control department along with Delhi government have issued a new regulation where hotels and eateries are banned from using coal and firewood tandoors. This order comes to effect immediately and hotels across Delhi are banned from using coal tandoors for preparation of food items.

This could be a significant blow to the culinary experience of Delhi which largely relies on Tandoor items to constitute their menu. But nevertheless, public safety and pollution control is the top priority here and certain measures are being taken.

The government has instructed hotels to instead shift to electric and gas apparatus for Tandoor items preparation.
