Former Telangana Chief Minister and BRS supremo KCR came out of his political oblivion for the first time after many months and took no time in launching a scathing offensive on the ruling dispensation led by Revanth Reddy. He came down heavily on the Congress government on several issues pertaining to the state and threw a gauntlet to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in his style without taking his name.
Reacting on KCR’s criticism, Revanth Reddy challenged the BRS chief to come to the assembly to discuss about river water issues. He urged KCR to attend the upcoming assembly sessions starting from January 2nd. Assuring that KCR would be treated with due respect, he said there will be no question of insulting the former Chief Minister in the Assembly and called for an open debate on how Telangana’s water rights were sold to Andhra in the previous terms.
Revanth took swipe at KCR for allegedly encouraging water exploitation during the BRS regime. He said that had water been drawn from Jurala to the Palamuru–Rangareddy project, Telangana’s water rights would have been protected, but the previous government diverted 512 TMCs to Andhra Pradesh and utilised only 299 TMCs.
Reacting on KCR’s allegations, Revanth further pointed out that even the detailed project report (DPR) was not properly submitted during KCR’s tenure. Revanth said that the present govt is fighting for a 71% share in the Godavari waters.
Revanth doubled down on his attack when he called both KCR and KTR as Financial Terrorists who pushed the state into debt trap. He alleged that the previous government raised loans amounting to ₹8.11 lakh crore and spent large portions of it on unproductive sectors and corruption. He added that the Congress government is prioritising irrigation project despite financial hurdles.
Revanth further alleged that KCR appeared in public only to divert the attention of his followers and the people of Telangana from the internal family tussles and the party’s dismal performance during the recent local body polls.
