Vizag once again is becoming a major center to hold another historic event supporting tribal growth. The PESA Mahotsav, organised directly by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, will take place on December 23 and 24, 2025. The two-day national event will be inaugurated by Ap DCM Pawan Kalyan, who is currently taking care of all the organisational activities of the event too.
PESA Mahotsav marks PESA Day, observed every year on December 24, celebrating the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996. This game-changer law gave tribal communities greater powers of self-governance through Gram Sabhas, protecting their land, culture, traditions, and natural resources.
Nearly 2,000 participants from all 10 PESA States will gather in Visakhapatnam, including elected tribal representatives, community leaders, cultural artists, and sportspersons. Senior officials from the Centre and States will attend the event. The event will include a launching of several initiatives for tribals such as a dedicated PESA Portal for transparency and monitoring, PESA performance indicators, training modules in tribal languages and an e-book documenting the cultural heritage of Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh.
The celebrations will also feature tribal sports, folk dances, and cultural programmes across venues such as the Visakhapatnam Port Authority Campus (where Pawan Kalyan will attend), RK Beach, Indoor Stadium, Cricket Stadium, and Kalavani Auditorium.
By hosting PESA Mahotsav on a national scale, It is quite clear on the focus of governance and priorities that Pawan Kalyan has set for the tribal development in the state from providing electricity to developing roads to remote tribal villages is quite clear.
