YS Jagan and his political strategies are hard to comprehend. The fact that he is firmly standing against the largely beneficial, PPP medical policy, which would enhance the medical industry is an indication of the same.
While the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has called for PPP policy that would bring together public and Private sectors for the enhancement of the medical industry, Jagan is against the same.
In fact, Jagan has openly threatened that he would arrest anyone who acquires medical colleges through this PPP policy once he becomes the CM again. This has led to panic amongst the potential suitors and the PPP bids operation that was held recently for 4 medical institutions in AP failed badly.
However, a crucial development has happened in this regard as union medical and healthcare minister, JP Nadda has written to the Andhra Pradesh government about this PPP model.
In this elaborate letter, the union minister pointed out that the PPP model is very beneficial for the medical sector. In fact, he encouraged the Andhra Pradesh government to amplify the project.
It was further communicated that the central government would be providing 30 to 40% financial grant for the initiation of medical institutions under the PPP model and another 25% of the operational budgets for the same.
The union minister pointed out that the PPP model is the future of medical industry as it would bring the experience and skill set of public and Private sectors for enhanced services.
Now that the Central Minister has spoken so highly of this PPP model, it has to be seen how YCP which has been firmly rejecting the same would react. Will Jagan continue to threaten the suitors of this PPP model despite the prompt from central government? Only time will tell.
