Ballari witnessed high tension on Thursday night after a violent clash between supporters of Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy and former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. The incident took place near Janardhan Reddy’s residence and led to the death of a Congress party worker.
According to reports, the trouble began during preparations for the unveiling of a Valmiki statue. Congress workers were putting up flex banners in the area. An argument broke out when a banner was allegedly fixed near the wall of Gali Janardhan Reddy’s house. What started as a verbal dispute soon turned into a physical fight between the two groups.
During the chaos, gunshots were heard and a Congress worker named Rajasekhar was killed. Police are investigating how the firing took place and who is responsible for the death.
After the incident, Gali Janardhan Reddy claimed there was a plan to kill him, while MLA Bharath Reddy denied the allegation. Police have imposed prohibitory orders in Ballari, placed both leaders under house supervision, and registered cases against several people. An investigation is ongoing to restore peace in the city.
