Naidu Gives Solid Elevation to Tollywood at the Avakai Festival

After the NDA coalition led by Chandrababu Naidu took over over reins of Andhra Pradesh in 2024, a lot of efforts are being made to develop tourism all over the state. Several cultural activities to showcase the rich heritage of the state are being organised frequently by the tourism department headed by Minister Kandula Durgesh. 

In a first-of-its-kind, the state government is now holding a three day event Amaravati Avakai film festival in Vijayawada starting from today. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu attended as chief guest and flagged off this event today evening. He said that the event is being held to celebrate the glory of Telugu cinema and to recognise its achievements. 

Hailing Tollywood as the face of Indian cinema, Naidu said the Telugu film industry has brought a lot of respect to Telugu people across the world. He said Tollywood made several experimental films from Bhakta Prahalada to Baahubali and received numerous laurels despite many other film industries. 

Criticising the previous government for completely ignoring the cultural and recreational activities, Naidu said that the NDA government has successfully organised several events to highlight the rich legacy of the state. He recalled how the current dispensation successfully celebrated Vijayawada utsav and Kanaka Durga utsav.  

Andhra Pradesh tourism department and Teamwork Arts have joined hands for this unique event which is happening on the banks of Krishna River at Punnami Ghat and Bhavani Island from Thursday to Saturday. 

In these three days, the visitors can view film screenings or become part of animated literary discussions, poetry readings, music and dance performances, theatre shows, workshops, cultural lectures and contemporary art exhibitions. Many other cultural events are also part of this festival.
