The AP government is actively boosting tourism by organizing exciting entertainment and cultural events across the state. After the successful Avakai festival in Amaravati, which celebrated local traditions, cinema, and culture, the spotlight has now shifted to the hills with Araku Utsav, also known as Araku Chali or Araku Fest.
Araku Utsav 2026, part of the larger Visakha Utsav, which is India’s biggest beach festival from January 24 to February 1, kicked off in Araku Valley around January 29.
This festival turns the beautiful Araku Valley into a lively hub. Visitors will enjoy live concerts by popular artists, tribal dance performances, traditional handicrafts and ornaments stalls, local coffee experiences, adventure activities like hot air balloon rides, trekking, and more. It showcases the rich heritage of tribal communities while promoting eco-tourism in the Eastern Ghats.
The government uses these events to attract huge crowds; Visakha Utsav alone expects over a million visitors, creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and boosting the economy. Free or low-cost entertainment, celebrity shows, cultural displays, and adventure options make tourism fun and accessible for families, youth, and nature lovers.
The state runs year-round festivals, from beach carnivals in Vizag to spiritual and heritage celebrations, turning the state into a top travel destination. By blending culture, fun, and nature, the government draws more footfalls, helps local people earn better, and puts lesser-known spots like Araku on the map.
The organisation of such joyful festivals shows how entertainment and tradition can make tourism exciting and rewarding for everyone!
