Babu Gets Andhra Back On Ease Of Living Rankings

For a long time, Andhra Pradesh cities were missing from India’s top 10 Ease of Living rankings. In fact, during the 2020 report period, not even one city from the state figured in the top group.

What hurt more was the sharp fall of Tirupati, which slipped from 4th place to 46th place in the Ease of Living Index during the subsequent YSR Congress Party rule in 2020 had greater scope during the earlier TDP rule. That drop invited strong criticism from the opposition at the time, especially the Telugu Desam Party, which is now back in power.

Today, the situation looks very different as in the latest released Ease of Living rankings for the year 2025, Tirupati and Vijayawada have both entered the top 10 cities in India. What makes this achievement special is that these two are the only cities from South India to make it into the top 10, putting Andhra ahead of several bigger states and metros.

Tirupati’s comeback reflects the clear vision of CBN, who has openly promised to make Tirupati one of the best cities in the country for ease of living. Soon after coming to power, he instructed officials to focus on cleanliness, traffic control, public safety, basic services, and citizen convenience rather than paperwork alone and so last year released a vision document for the development of Tirupati.

As part of this push, a new police headquarters was recently launched in Tirupati around the time the 2025 rankings were released. The move is aimed at improving law and order, faster response, and public confidence as the key factors behind in livability rankings.

With two cities in the national top 10, Andhra Pradesh appears to be reclaiming its urban credibility through focused leadership and steady administration.
