1st Time In History: CM Arguing Case in Court!

The Indian judicial and political system is going to witness history as we will be witnessing a chief minister arguing a case in the Supreme Court for the first time in history. This is going to happen tomorrow as West bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is going to argue a case in the Supreme Court.

Sitting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to appear in person to argue the Special Intensive Review case before the Supreme Court. An application has been filed for her to appear as “party in person”.

For those wondering about her credentials and economic background, Mamata Banerjee has completed law from Jogesh Chandra Choudhury College of Law, Calcutta and last reports of her practicing as a lawyer dates back to 2003.

It must be a completely new experience to watch a sitting chief minister argue her own case in the Supreme Court. Notably Mamata Banerjee will be taking on the election commission regarding the SIR, where she will be arguing against the discrepancies in the voter list.

The Supreme Court will hear on Wednesday a plea filed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee challenging the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state.
