YSR Congress is trying to muzzle the Government with its majority in the Council. The Party has boycotted the Assembly but is trying to hold the Government in Ransom using its numbers in the Upper House.
Interestingly, Jagan Mohan Reddy tried to abolish the council in the initial days of his tenure because TDP with its numbers blocked the Three Capitals Bills.
YSR Congress has tried to corner the Government in the Council in the name of Heritage in the Laddu issue. The Party MLCs were able to block the business in the house with their numbers. It appears like the Government thought enough is enough.
Today in the Assembly, Nara Lokesh mentioned how YSR Congress blocked the Bill to give a Government Job to Thota Chadraiah’s son and vowed to get the bill passed at any cost.
For those who do not know, Thota Chandraiah was a TDP worker killed by YSR Congress workers. The Government wants to give his son a Government job to take a stand against Faction Politics.
Sometime after Lokesh’s announcement, there were media reports that YSR Congress MLCs who resigned were planning to move the No Confidence Motion on the Council Chairman for not accepting their resignations.
The YSR Congress MLCs who shifted their allegiance to the Ruling Parties have resigned to bring the YSR Congress numbers down but the Council Chairman Moshen Raju being a YSR Congress leader is sitting on the Resignations to benefit the Opposition.
It will be interesting to see if the TDP can engineer a coup to bring down the Chairman so that the Upper House will be in its control. However, it is not easy because YSR Congress enjoys absolute majority here. Probably, that is the reason why the no-confidence motion is not moved by the TDP.
But if Lokesh is able to pull this off, his image will get doubled in AP Politics. Many believe that they would not go that far for a No-Confidence Motion unless they have confidence of executing it.
