Generally, the chief minister chair is the most desired position in state politics, and we usually witness peak competition and anticipation for the same. However, in the case of Bihar, we could be witnessing a very peculiar situation as the chief minister is stepping down in a premature manner.
The current chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar, who is one of the longest serving chief minister in the country got elected last year thanks to the NDA alliance.
However, the latest reports from national Media are suggesting that Nitish Kumar could not be completing his full tenure as the chief minister as he could be stepping down soon and filing Rajya Sabha nomination.
This is due to the fact that the BJP had been anticipating the CM seat for a long time and they feel this is the right opportunity to have their own chief minister in Bihar after years of Nitish Kumar rule.
This might be a reluctant choice for Nitish Kumar, who had served as the chief minster for a couple of decades in total but with BJP determined to secure the CM seat, Nitish might be left with no other option. He will have to uphold the alliance dignity by stepping down when promoted.
This would certainly go down as one of the rare occurrences in Indian politics where a chief minister is stepping down to file Rajya Sabha nomination which can be regarded as a downgrade in political terms.
