Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Hyderabad today for the initiation of few development programs and inauguration of a 1500-beds Cancer Hospital in Kondapur belonging to Hetero Parthasaradhi Reddy who is the sitting BRS Rajya Sabha MP. The controversies surrounding the hospital is a matter of another discussion.
During his visit, the Prime Minister is visited the residences of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. This may be the first time, the PM is meeting the CM and DCM of other states while on an official tour.
What is the urgency behind these sudden meetings?
BJP, TDP, and Janasena are allies in Andhra Pradesh but there are no pressing issues there to be discussed immediately.
For Pawan Kalyan, there is at least that surgery as a reason for meeting. But there is nothing to meet Chandrababu Naidu.
Probably, this trip of the Prime Minister is the first step for the BJP, TDP, and Janasena alliance in Telangana as well.
TDP and BJP contested together in 2014 elections but the results were not satisfactory.
KCR was able to brand Chandrababu Naidu as anti-Telangana and alienated Telugu Desam Party in the new state. BJP also feared to ally with TDP as a result. Even though there is alliance in AP, BJP contested alone in Telangana.
But 2028 election results indicate that there is no such thing as Telangana Sentiment in the state.
So, the BJP high command may have started thinking on the lines to join hands with TDP and Janasena in Telangana too.
Despite not being in power since 2004 in Telangana, TDP still has loyal vote bank in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Nizambad districts. These votes can be deciding factor in close contests in many seats.
In some seats of the GHMC region, they are major vote bank.
With TDP not contesting, these votes have gone to Congress in 2023.
PM Modi may want to bring them towards the BJP. An alliance with the Janasena Party can attract the youth voters due to Pawan Kalyan’s Charisma. So, this may be the beginning of the change in Telangana Political turf.
