What A Twist In CM Race: Favourite Lost, Veteran Won!

When it comes to regional parties, the chief minister candidate is locked even before the election and there is no suspense on this matter. But with regard to national parties, the situation is the exact opposite.

For instance, we have the case of Kerala election, which was one by the UDF alliance that is mainly headed by the Congress. So naturally, Congress was given the chief ministerial position.

However, the problem came with the fact that Congress was unable to decide the new chief minister of Kerala, even 11 days after the election. Till the very last moment, it was expected that KC Venugopal would be the front line favourite to become the CM and his camp was sure of it.

However, things took interesting turns for the last couple of days and out of the blue, it was officially announced by the Congress that veteran VD Satheesan has been appointed as the CLP leader. He is going to be the new chief minister of Kerala now.

Despite the fact that KC Venugopal is one of the senior most leaders for the Congress party in Kerala and has significant influence at the national congress level, he was unable to take the CM chair. The situation turned in favour of Satheesan at the last minute.

However, the problem now is with the fact that KC Venugopal has his own team in the Congress party, and if he decides to create any political turmoil, the UDF alliance will be in trouble.

But considering his decades long journey with the congress, any disturbances from his end wouldn’t be practical at this point. But anything can happen in politics at any time.
