200 Crore Spent Just For Pithapuram Roads!

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is doing everything to make Pithapuram constituency his forte.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had given him a free hand to ensure the development in the constituency.

As a result, over ₹200 crore is being spent on road construction in the constituency.  

New roads spanning 307 kilometers are being constructed using funds from the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI), and the Roads & Buildings and Panchayat Raj departments.

Within two years, the construction of 611 roads totaling approximately 152 kilometers in length and valued at ₹100 crore has been completed.

Construction work on more than 70 additional roads is currently underway. The Deputy Chief Minister’s office announced these details on Wednesday.

Thirteen years ago, the fishermen of Mayapatnam whose original coastal village at Uppada had been lost to sea erosion were resettled in a new colony named ‘Kotha Mayapatnam’ near Subbampeta. Although houses were built, basic infrastructure was not provided.

Taking the initiative, the Deputy Chief Minister oversaw the construction of a 1.5-kilometer cement road and 2.8 kilometers of drains within the colony at a cost of ₹1.52 crore.

Additionally, a 1.6-kilometer cement road was constructed at a cost of ₹93 lakh in the nearby ‘Kotha Suradapeta’ resettlement colony, connecting it to the Subbampeta-Kothapalli main road.

The Deputy Chief Minister also ordered that pending road works covering 70 kilometers be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
