Bengal Polls: BJP Gives Ticket To House-Maid

These are the days we see leaders doing many stunts to get an MLA or MP ticket during elections. They even take out their corrupt money to bribe respective party leaders and leadership. Finally the one who is highly influential and capable of winning the elections by hook or crook would get the ticket.

 Under these circumstances, BJP has offered an MLA ticket to a house-maid and it has shocked many. She is Kalita Majhi and works as a maid in four houses and earns Rs 2,500 a month. But politically Kalita is every active and she has been in BJP for the last five years.

For the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP has rewarded Kalita for her hard work over the last the five years. Kalita will be contesting from Ausgram constituency located in Purba Burdwan district and many who learned the background of Kalita were amazed.

“I never imagined I would get this opportunity,” said Kalita in her first reaction after getting ticket to contest. Her husband is a plumber while she has a son who is studying in eighth standard.

Despite her low income, Kalita took a month off from her work and dedicate the time to election campaign. The West Bengal BJP also wants to support her in every possible manner.

Very rarely we get to see people like Kalita Majhi and hopefully she will lead by example to bring a change in politics.
