After Delhi extended full lockdown for a week, Karnataka state government has announced a complete lockdown in the state for 14 days.Starting from tomorrow i.e April 27th, Karnataka including Bengaluru city will go into a full lockdown. After convening a cabinet meeting today, CM Yediyurappa made a formal statement on the same. However, people are allowed to step outside between 6AM to 10AM to buy essential services.
“After speaking to all ministers and experts, we have come to a decision to impose full lockdown in the state from tomorrow for two weeks,” Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said in a press briefing after the cabinet meeting. The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is said to have advised for a two-week complete lockdown. Karnataka has night curfew and weekend lockdown in place. Yet, the cases are witnessing a surge due to Covid.
It can be noted that the state witnessed a record high of 34,000 Covid cases on Sunday which is the highest single-day spike in the state. With this, the total active cases in the state is over 1.6 lakh with Bengaluru city being at the top.
