Delhi Lockdown Extended By One More Week

Delhi government is the first and fast to implement restrictions on the movement of people, to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Already, the state is in a lockdown phase and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that the lockdown in the city is now extended by one more week. The Delhi CM took to his Twitter profile to announce the same. With the fresh restrictions coming into play, the lockdown will remain in force till 5 am on May 10.

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Lockdown in Delhi is being extended by one week.” The officials are working hard in meeting the requirements to provide the oxygen supply, ventilators, and other emergency need to the patients. Even then, on Saturday, 12 Covid-19 patients, including a doctor, died at Delhi’s Batra Hospital due to a shortage of medical oxygen. Kejriwal expressed his grief over the same on Twitter.

“Delhi should get its quota of oxygen. Delhi needs 976 tonnes of oxygen, but it received only 312 tonnes yesterday. How will Delhi breathe in such a less amount of oxygen?” he tweeted in Hindi.

The traders’ associations in Delhi had urged Delhi L-G Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to extend the lockdown till May 15. For now, the lockdown is extended until May 10th and the officials will review the situation again in the next week.

During the lockdown period, essential services like medicine shops, vegetable shops, groceries, etc. will be allowed with strict precautionary measures.
